Updating Your Home For Fall

Let’s talk about fall decor ideas.

Don’t worry! We’re not going to talk about anything pumpkin spice! (I guess we just did, technically, but we’ll pretend it never happened.) We do want to give you a few tips on ideas to update your home with fall decor. A lot of times when we transition from summer to fall people like to give their homes that nice “autumn feel”, so here are three ideas for you as you bring in the new season:

1. Update your table setting.

This is a pretty simple idea, but it has a very nice effect. You can use pumpkins, faux autumn leaves—anything with the fall colors of oranges, browns, and yellows. Ask your local florist what the best flowers are for fall and get those for your table setting—chrysanthemums are great for this time of year. Something that simple can make a big difference in your home.

2. Hang a wreath.

Fall-themed wreaths are very popular lately. Actually, wreaths have become popular for all seasons. You can find summer wreaths, spring wreaths, and of course Christmas wreaths. Many craftspeople make these locally, with variations for each season. This adds a nice, welcoming fall touch for guests to your home.

3. Change your window treatments.

Often people don’t think about this during the summer, when there’s a lot of hustle and bustle and activities with the kids and getting them ready for school. By October that kind of business has kind of died down a little and you’re back into your routine. That’s when you might look around and realize it’s time to start taking care of some items in your home that you’ve been putting off dealing with. It’s also a great time to start ordering custom window treatments. We do make everything custom, so if you’re thinking of having new window treatments in place for the holidays, we can’t get them to you instantly. There is some lead time to take into account when you are ordering custom-made treatments. That makes this the perfect time to place your order, so you’ll have plenty of time to get them in before any holiday guests arrive in November or December. Whatever you want, new shutters, blinds, drapes—this is the perfect time to start looking at them, so that they’re in place when you need them to be.

We hope you have a wonderful fall! And if you are into pumpkin spice, we hope you enjoy your pumpkin spice.
