Window Treatments For Bathrooms
Today we’re going to talk about the best window treatments for a bathroom. The bathroom is obviously a high-moisture area, but it’s also an area that calls for a high amount of privacy. This means you want to be careful when picking out window treatments for your bathroom!
What NOT to do:
We do not recommend using a shade, either a Roman shade or cellular shades, or drapes in your bathroom. Think for a moment about the effect a high-moisture area can have on these materials. Even if water doesn’t hit directly on your window treatments, steam in the air will make your shades or drapes damp anyway. It’s almost like hanging a wet towel up—even if you don’t get it wet directly you’re going to get moisture on it, and then that provides an environment for mold to grow.
What we recommend:
- Faux wood blinds. Faux wood blinds are great for bathrooms because it’s okay if they get a little bit wet. All they need is a quick wipe down, and they’re good to go. The moisture will not linger to help mold grow, and the blinds won’t deteriorate over time. These come in various colors to fit your specific needs.
- Shutters. This is another popular choice for bathrooms. Like the blinds, these are easy to care for, they won’t be affected by moisture, and they’re aesthetically pleasing from both the inside and the outside of your home.
These are some of the things we take into consideration when we go over the window treatment needs for your home. We look at the level of privacy you need in each room, the amount of light control you need, and, in this case, the amount of moisture control you need.
